The following notice appeared in the October Bulletin but I reproduce it
below with an added plea for anyone interested in becoming a member of this
important Committee to contact me asap. I will extend the deadline to Friday
14 December.

The ASA Council is seeking expressions of interest from ASA members
interested in joining this Committee.  Following the 2000 Awards the
Convenor and two of the judges stood down from the Committee having served
three to five years on the Committee.  Note: the existing Convenor and
judges are able to renominate for a further two year term if they choose to.

The Mander Jones Awards focus on excellence in archival writing and/or
publishing. The Judging Committee consists of the Convenor and three judges,
one of whom is the current Managing Editor, Andrew Wilson.  The Convenor
should be a professional member of the Society.

Duties Of The Convenor Of The Mander Jones Committee
Some of the tasks include -
*	confirm a judging committee each year (two year terms from 2001)
*	advertise Mander Jones Awards in the December Bulletin and include
nomination form as an insert and advertise it on the aus archivist list serv
in December
*	include a reminder notice about the Awards in the February Bulletin
and post a reminder to the aus archivist list serv towards the end of
February
*	answering questions from prospective nominators
*	listing all nominations received and acknowledging them
*	sending the list to other committee members plus photocopies of
relevant items where feasible or arranging to send multimedia or other
publications to committee members
*	liaising with other committee members to ensure deadline for judging
is met
*	coordinating the final results and reporting to Council
*	notifying the winners and not so lucky ones
*	writing the report for the Bulletin including list of all
nominations received
*	liaising re the printing of certificates to winners
*	hosting the Mander Jones award ceremony
*	despatching certificates to those not present at the ceremony

Duties of the judges include
*	assist in the judging process
*	liaise with other judges and the Convenor
*	respond by the deadline for judging
