STAMA - Health Law and Medical Records

Dear STAMAsters,

For those interested in health law and medical records a number of sources
have come forward recently that may be of interest. Both deal with the
area in an Australian context but the fundamental issues are of global
concern.

First:

The Law Report on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Radio National
has run a two part series over the last two weeks (27 July and 3 August)
called "Health Law". The transcript of the first part can be found at:

http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/8.30/lawrpt/lstories/lr990727.htm

The second part, which deals more directly with issues of medical records
will follow shortly.

Second:

In the Australian Society of Archivists journal "Archives and Manuscripts"
Vol. 26 Number 2, November 1998, there is a useful article by Ian
Freckelton, "Records and reliable evidence: medico-legal litigation" pp.
270-293
