Born: 1810  Liverpool, England.  Died: 2 August 1896  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Cornelius Gavin Casey, the grandfather of R.G. Casey was Assistant Colonial Surgeon in Van Diemen's Land 1833-43. He then held a number of official posts, resigning from time to time, usually as a result of disagreements, to enter private practice.

Born Liverpool, England, 1810. Died Melbourne, 2 August 1896. Arrived Van Diemen's Land 1833 as surgeon in an immigrant ship; assistant colonial surgeon 1833-43; Hobart General Hospital 1843-?; Medical Court of Examiners from 1844; private practice until 1848; medical officer to the gaol, watch-house and police at Launceston 1848-?; private practice in Tasmania until 1863; Victoria 1863-96.
