Born: 29 January 1921  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 7 January 1994.
Edward James Hannan was Professor of Statistics in the Institute of Advanced Studies, Australian National University from 1971-86. Prior to this he was a Fellow in Statistics 1954-58 and Professor of Statistics in the School of General Studies 1959-71 at the same university.
