Hartung, Ernst Johannes (1893 - 1979)

Born: 23 April 1893  Caulfield, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 30 January 1979  Parkville, Victoria.
Ernst Johannes Hartung was Lecturer in Chemistry, University of Melbourne 1919-24, an Associate Professor 1924-27 and Professor 1927-54. He chaired the Advisory Committee on Optical Munitions during World War II and led the research into the production of optical glass. Hartung is commemorated by the Hartung Youth Lectures of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
