Born: 17 July 1930  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Anthony William Linnane was Professor of Biochemistry, Monash University 1965-94 and Director of the Centre for Molecular Biology and Medicine 1983-96. He continued as Director of the Centre from 1996, when it was established as an independent Incorporated Entity.

Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1972; Lemberg Medal, Australian Biochemical Society 1973; Fellow, Royal Society 1980; Fellow, Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering 1999; Distinguished Service Award, International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 2000.
