| Philip James Moors was the first full-time Director of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union 1989-92 and has been Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne since 1992. His interests include conservation, Antarctic science and ornithology. |

| Born Australia, 5 April 1948. Educated Australian National University (BSc Hons 1970) and University of Aberdeen (PhD 1974). New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service ca 1971; Scientist, New Zealand Wildlife Service 1974-85, Assistant Director, Research 1985-87; Assistant Director, Research, Department of Conservation, New Zealand 1987-88; first full-time Director, Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union 1989-92; Director, Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne from 1992. Organised 1982 International Council for Bird Preservation (ICBP) sysmposium on management of islands for the conservation of rare birds and edited its proceedings. |
