D. E. Baldwin was Chief Engineer of C.O.R. Ltd. (later B.P. Australia) from 1932. In the late 1920s he developed all-welded steel storage tanks for petroleum.

Australian Imperial Force 1915-18 (Gallipoli, France, Belgium), 1942-43 (New Guinea); Engineer, Commonwealth Oil Refineries Ltd 1921-24; Engineer and Manager, Gardner Constructions Pty Ltd 1924-32; Chief Engineer, Commonwealth Oil Refineries (later BP Ltd) from 1932. Chairman, Melbourne Division, Institution of Engineers Australia 1940.
