Jensen, John Klunder (1884 - 1970)

Born: 20 March 1884  Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.  Died: 17 February 1970  Hawthorn.
(Sir) John Klunder Jensen left school at 11. He began work as a messenger-boy in the Post Office and Telegraph Department in 1898 and rose through the clerical ranks to become secretary of both the Department of Munitions 1942-48 and the Department of Supply and Development 1948-49.

Born Bendigo, Victoria, 20 March 1884. Died Hawthorn, Melbourne, 17 February 1970. OBE 1938, Kt 1950. Educated Working Men's College (mathematics, engineering and chemistry). Foundation secretary, Munitions Supply Board, Department of Defence 1921, controller 1937-39; assistant-secretary, Department of Munitions 1940-42, secretary 1942-48; secretary, Department of Supply and Development 1948-49. Foundation chairman, Secondary Industries Planning Commission, Department of Post-War Reconstruction from 1943. Fellow (1929) and life member (1949), Australian Institute of Cost Accountants.
