Kent, Thomas (? - 1832)

Died: 29 March 1832  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Thomas Kent arrived in Sydney in 1808. He moved to Van Diemen's Land in 1812 and after variuous failed ventures he produced a successful tanning extract in 1818 by crushing and boiling wattle bark and evaporating the liquid into tar.
