Peacock, George (1824 - 1900)

Jam manufacturer
Born: 1824  Bath, Somerset, England.  Died: 29 April 1900  Petersham, New South Wales, Australia.
George Peacock was one of the first jam manufacturers in Australia, making canned jam in Hobart Town 1867-79 and Sydney 1880-91. He also experimented with canning fish in 1882, but did not continue because of the high cost of installing refrigeration.
