| Born: 1903 Jamestown, South Australia, Australia. Died: 1988. | |
| Clarence Sherwood Piper and G. Samuel (qv), in 1928, recorded the first trace element deficiency, that of manganese in the black soils on which oats were being grown near Mount Gambier in South Australia. At that stage he worked for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. By 1938 he was working for the Waite Agricultural Reseach Institute. |
