Albert Russell (Bert) Main was Emeritus Professor of Zoology at the University of Western Australia and Chair of the Western Australian Environment Protection Authority (1982-1985c). He has received many honours for his contribution to zoology including the Mueller Medal from ANZAAS (Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science), the Gold Medal from the Australian Ecological Society and he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
