Cartmill, Randi S. and Day, Lucille Lang, Prevention of substance abuse: can museums make a difference?, Curator 40/3, September 1997, pp. 197-210. The authors note that the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs is rising in high schools in the USA. They describe a field-trip program developed at the Hall of Health in Berkeley, California, that has attempted to reverse or lessen this trend by communicating in a museum setting the dangers of drugs and addiction.
