McDougall, Robert (1813 - 1887)

Born: 16 April 1813  Fortingall, Scotland.  Died: 25 June 1887  Moonee Ponds, Victoria, Australia.
Robert McDougall was a livestock farmer with considerable standing in the cattle industry. His animals always won awards at the various agriculture shows and fetched high prices when sold. McDougall was a trustee of the National Agricultural Society and contributed greatly to the advancement of the Victorian beef cattle industry.

1836 - 1839Beaver trapper in Canada
1841Migrated to Australia (Port Phillip, Victoria)
1848Started up a livestock farm with Shortland cattle, pigs and horses
1856 - 1857Member of the Legislative Assembly for West Bourke (9 months)
1859Visited England to buy stud bulls
1870Bought Arundel farm in Keilor, Victoria
