Born: 26 October 1830 London, England. Died: 17 August 1900 Brighton, Victoria, Australia.

Lloyd Tayler was probably Victoria’s best and most prolific architect during the mid to late 1800s. He designed numerous banks, churches, warehouses, offices, retail shops and private mansions in Victoria. He also won a national competition for the design of the South Australian House of Parliament. Tyler was an inaugural member and a three-time president of the Victorian Institute of Architects and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

c. 1860 - c. 1870 Designed the National Bank of Australasia buildings in Melbourne, Richmond, North Fitzroy, Warrnambool and Coleraine
1865 Designed St Phillip's Church in Collingwood and the Presbyterian Church in Punt Road, South Yarra
1872 Designed the Kamesburgh mansion in Brighton, Victoria
1874 Selected with EW Wright to design the South Australian House of Parliament
1874 Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA)
1875 Designed the Bank of Australia building in Adelaide
1878 Designed the Australian Club in Melbourne
1880 - 1881 Commissioner to the Melbourne International Exhibition
1883 Founder of the St John's Ambulance Association in Victoria
