Born: 28 May 1917  Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.  Died: 31 August 1987.
Ian Brown commenced work with the CSIR Division of Industrial Chemistry in 1942 and stayed with the organisation until his retirement in 1978. His specialised field was solution thermodynamics.

Born Adelaide, 28 May 1917. Died Melbourne, 31 August 1987. Educated University of Adelaide (BSc 1940, DSc 1966). Assistant chemist, Birkenhead laboratory, Shell Company 1941; assistant chemist, Beckers Pty Ltd 1941-42; assistant research officer, rising to principal research scientist, CSIR/O Divisions of Industrial Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, 1942-78.
