Lefroy, John Henry (1817 - 1890)

Magnetician and Colonial governor
Born: 28 January 1817  Ashe, Hampshire, England.  Died: 11 April 1890  Lewarne, Cornwall, England.
John Henry Lefroy, Governor of Tasmania 1880-82, had served as a scientific adviser to the War-Office, London 1854-55 and as Director of the Magnetic Observatory, St.Helena 1840-42. He wrote widely on scientific subjects including Australia.
