Scott, Robert Falcon

Born: England
Robert Falcon Scott commanded the British Antarctic expedition of 1897 and explored the area in the "Discovery" 1900-4. In 1911 he began his sledge journey to the South Pole but arrived four weeks after Amundsen. All members of the party perished on the return trip.
