Robert Street was Director of the Research School of Physical Sciences, Institute of Advanced Studies, Australian National University, 1974-78. He was previously Professor and Chairman of the Department of Physics, Monash University, Victoria 1960-74. He is interested in the development and properties of magnetic materials.

Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1973; Fellow, Institute of Physics; Fellow, Australian Institute of Physics. President, Australian Institute of Physics 1971; sometime President, Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering; sometime President, Atomic Energy Advisory Committee.
