Verbiest, Ferdinand

Born: Flanders
Ferdinand Verbiest, of Flemish origin, was part of the successful Jesuit mission to China in the early seventeenth century. He was made President of the Astronomical Board and produced text-books on astronomy and a world map for the Chinese Emperor.
