Irving, James Washington (1871 - 1948)

Veterinary surgeon
Born: 18 October 1871  Oldham, Lancashire, England.  Died: 21 April 1948.
James Washington Irving moved to Australia in 1893 to be with his parents after completing veterinary studies in Scotland. He immediately joined his father’s practice and many of Queensland’s animal societies. He helped establish Queensland’s first professional veterinary body in 1920 and was appointed its first president. He retired from all work in 1948c and died several months later.
