Voisey, Alan Heywood (1911 - 1995)

Geologist
Born: 11 April 1911  Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 15 April 1995.
Alan Heywood Voisey was foundation Professor of Geology and Head of the School of Earth Sciences, Macquarie University 1966-71. Earlier he had been Professor of Geology at the University of New England from 1954-65 after being Lecturer-in-charge from 1939. He is commemorated by the A.H. Voisey Club, a graduate club of the University of New England’s Geology Department, and by the A.H. Voisey Medal of the New South Wales division of the Geological Society of Australia. This medal is awarded annually to "a younger member of the Society for outstanding research work".
