Born: 31 May 1849  Aberdeen, Scotland.  Died: 11 March 1929  Coburg, Victoria, Australia.
John Mathew, a presbyterian minister, pursued his interest in Aboriginal ethnography on which he published two books and numerous articles. He lived on Manumbar station in the Burnett district, Queensland 1865-70.
