| Born: 17 January 1906 Latvia. Died: 15 July 1987. |
| Janis Fridrichsons was born, educated and worked in Latvia prior to the Russian invasion in 1944. He arrived with his family in Australia in 1949 and joined the CSIRO Division of Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Physics Section in 1950. |
