Born: 10 October 1908  Coventry, England.  Died: 29 August 1975  Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia.
Georde Baker was a Senior Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO where his main interest in geology was the research into australites.

Career Highlights
Born Coventry, England, 10 October 1908. Died Mount Eliza, Victoria, 29 August 1975. MSc, DSc 1956. Junior assistant, Geology School, University of Melbourne from 1925; worked at the University of Melbourne till 1968, although an employee of CSIRO from 1948; Honorary Associate in Mineralogy, National Museum of Victoria. Syme Prize (shared) 1944, first recipient of Royal Society of Victoria's Research Medal 1959. Commissioner for Australia of the International Committee on Meteorites.
