Pope, Elizabeth (1912 - 1993)

 
Zoologist
Born: 4 November 1912.  Died: 18 September 1993.
Elizabeth Pope spent her entire working life at the Australian Museum, where she rose to Deputy-Director.

Career Highlights
Educated University of Sydney (MSc). Australian Museum throughout her career, rising through its ranks from Scientific Assistant to Curator for Worms and Echinoderms and Deputy Director. Sometime President, Linnean Society of New South Wales. Mapped large areas of the Australian coast, doing some of the earliest Australian research in ecology. Co-authored several books on the seashore with Dakin (her zoology professor at the University of Sydney) and Isobel Bennet.
