Roseby, Thomas (1844 - 1918)

Born: 8 April 1844  Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 16 December 1918  Monsman, New South Wales.
Thomas Roseby was a Congregational minister with an active interest in astronomy and botany. He had an observatory at Marrickville and later at Mosman and often gave educational evenings to church groups and students.

Career Highlights
Born 8 April 1844. Died 16 December 1918. Educated University of Sydney (BA 1869, MA and LLB 1871, LLD 1873). Minister at Petersham 1867-72, Dunedin 1872-85, Ballarat 1885-88 and Marrickville 1888-1911. President, New South Wales branch, British Astronomical Association 1901-02, 1914. The church at Marrickville is now known as the "Roseby Memorial Church".
