Ian Albert E. Bayley worked on the biology of salt lakes around Australia in the early 1960s.

Born New Zealand, 3 August 1934. Educated Universities of New Zealand (MSc 1959) and Queensland (PhD 1965). DSc, Monash University 1975. Lecturer, University of Queensland 1959-64; Senior Lecturer in Zoology, Monash University 1965-70; Reader in Zoology, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Monash University 1971-1996. Jolly Award, Australian Society for Limnology 1965.
