Born: 8 August 1933
Robert Gerard M. (Gerry) Wake has been with the Department of Biochemistry, University of Sydney since 1961, becoming Professor of Biochemistry in 1977. He is interested in bacterial chromosome replication and cell division.

Lemberg Medal, Australian Biochemical Society 1981; Fellow, Australian Academy of Science 1985. President, Australian Biochemical Society 1984-86; Chairman, Vice-President's Committee, Australian Academy of Science 1991-93; Chairman, Scientific Programme Committee, 7th Congress of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists 1992-95.
