| (Sir) John Laurence Knott was a public servant for many years. His positions included Secretary, Department of Defence Production 1957-58 and Department of Supply 1959-65, and Director-General, Posts and Telegraphs 1968-71. He then went into the private sector as a company director. Knott was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). |
