McIlwraith, Thomas (1835 - 1900)

Born: 17 May 1835  Ayr, Scotland.  Died: 17 July 1900  London, England.
(Sir) Thomas McIlwraith provided some of the capital for the Strathleven experiment in shipping refrigerated meat and butter to Britain (in 1879-80). The ship was chartered by his brother Andrew of McIlwraith McEacharn Ltd.
