BAKER, Stanley Charles

Born East Maitland, N.S.W., 10 December 1910. Education Sydney University (B.Sc. 1931, M.Sc. 1934). Science teacher, N.S.W. Department of Education 1933-35. Lecturer in physics at Sydney Technical College 1936. Head teacher of physics, Newcastle Technical College, 1937-47; senior lecturer-in-charge, 1948-50; senior lecturer in physics and head of the physics department Newcastle University College 1951-65; Associate professor of physics Newcastle University 1965-75. Ph.D. University of N.S.W. 1957. Professor of physics at the Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute, N.Y., U.S.A., 1976.
