Born: 25 April 1859  St Johns Wood, England.  Died: 16 November 1925  Turramurra, New South Wales, Australia.
Joseph Henry Maiden became the Curator of the new Technological Museum, Sydney in 1880 and in 1896 Director of the Botanic Gardens and New South Wales Government Botanist. He wrote several major books on Australian botany and founded the National Herbarium, Sydney in 1901.
