Edgell, Robert Gordon (Gordon) (1866 - 1948)

Born: 6 February 1866  Hunters Hill, New South Wales, Australia.  Died: 2 December 1948  Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia.
Robert Gordon (Gordon) Edgell was the first person to can vegetables in Australia when he began canning asparagus in 1926. He registered a public company, Gordon Edgell and Sons Ltd in 1930 and was chairman of directors until 1948.
