Henty, Thomas (1775 - 1839)

Born: 1775.  Died: 25 October 1839  Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
Thomas Henty was a Sussex farmer who bred Spanish merinos from George III's flock. He arrived in Launceston in 1831and continued sheep farming. He helped to found the Cornwall Agricultural Society in Launceston and to improve the standard of the town's horse racing. He was also a magistrate.
