Staff & Accomodation

Melbourne Office

The space allocated to the Melbourne Office within the HPS Department was expanded at the beginning of 1994. This allowed the provision of a personal office for the Chief Archivist, Gavan McCarthy. The main office continues to be used by the National Coordinator, Lisa O'Sullivan and by casual staff. A projected move to the new Queensberry Street site, purchased by the University of Melbourne from the Education Department was confirmed in early 1994. This will considerably improve ASAP's accommodation and storage facilities. Significant changes include archival storage space of approximately 450 linear metres, a large work room for teams processing collections, individual offices for ASAP core staff, rooms for Project Archivists, and a conference/meeting room. This move is projected for late 1994, early 1995.

Canberra Office

The Canberra Office remains located at one end of the Basser Library in Becker House. Some reorganisation of the space has been possible, and working conditions are, in general, satisfactory.

The Canberra Office was fortunate to have found two efficient and dedicated assistant archivists, Mo Yimei and Lisa Jooste. ASAP thanks them for all their hard work over the past year.
