| Born Goulburn, New South Wales, 25 March 1891. Died Sydney, 14 December 1959. Educated University of Sydney (BSc 1910, MB 1916). Resident, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital 1917; part-time demonstrator in anatomy, University of Sydney 1918; surgeon lieutenant, Royal Australian Navy 1918-19; lecturer and demonstrator, anatomy department, University of Sydney 1919-24; associate-professor 1925; Challis professor of anatomy 1926-55. Provided a major collection of European scientific literature which provided the basis of the Burkitt Library in the faculty of medicine. |
