Hooker, Joseph Dalton (1817 - 1911)

Born: 30 June 1817  Halesworth, Suffolk, England.  Died: 10 December 1911  Windlesham, Berkshire, England.
(Sir) Joseph Dalton Hooker was Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew 1865-85 and author of "Flora Tasmaniae" (London, 1860). He visited Tasmania as a surgeon and botanist on James Ross's Antarctic Expedition 1839-42.
