Paterson, William (1755 - 1810)

Born: 17 August 1755  Scotland.  Died: 21 June 1810  at sea.
William Paterson, soldier and Lieut-Governor of New South Wales, was an amateur naturalist who collected botanical, geological and insect specimens for Joseph Banks in Britain. He made several inland expeditions in Eastern Australia.
