Cameron, Samuel Sherwen (1866 - 1933)

Born: 29 June 1866  Haile, Cumberland, England.  Died: 31 December 1933  Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Samuel Sherwen Cameron was veterinary inspector for the Board of public Health in Victoria 1896-1905 and was heavily involved in the Meat Supervision Act of Victoria 1901 and the Milk and Dairy Supervision Act 1905. He was director of the Department of Agriculture in Vcictoria 1911-31.

Born Haile, Cumberland, England, 29 June 1866. Died Melbourne, 31 December 1933. Educated Royal (Dick) Veterinary College, Edinburgh (graduated 1888). Lecturer and hospital surgeon, Veterinary College, Fitzroy, Victoria 1889-94; veterinary officer, municipality of Dunedin, New Zealand 1895-96; veterinary inspector, Board of Public Health, Victoria 1896-1905; chief veterinary inspector, Department of Agriculture 1905-11; director, Department of Agriculture 1911-31; lecturer in veterinary hygiene and dietetics in the faculty of veterinary science, University of Melbourne 1909-24, senior lecturer 1924-28, lecturer in animal husbandry and veterinary hygiene in the faculty of agriculture 1927-33. Associated with the formation of Young Farmers' clubs in Victoria and also involved with the Better Farming Exhibition train.
