Best, Rupert Jethro (1903 - 1991)

Virologist and Agricultural chemist
Born: 30 May 1903.  Died: 8 October 1991.
Rupert Jethro Best was a Reader in Virology at the Waite Agricultural Research Institute, University of Adelaide 1958-68. He was lecturer then Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Chemistry at the Waite 1930-58.

Born 30 May 1903. Died Adelaide, 8 October 1991. AO 1980. Educated University of Adelaide (BSc (hons) 1926, MSc 1927, DSc 1948). Demonstrator in physical chemistry, University of Adelaide 1927; lecturer in physical chemistry 1928; Waite Agricultural Research Institute 1928-68 (assistant lecturer from 1928, reader in virology and head of the virology unit from 1958). Rennie Medal, Royal Australian Chemical Institute 1931. Foundation Chairman, South Australian division of Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science 1969-80.
