Grayson, Henry Joseph (1856 - 1918)

Nurseryman and Geologist
Born: 9 May 1856  Worrall, Yorkshire, England.  Died: 21 March 1918  Clyde, Victoria, Australia.
Henry Joseph Grayson worked as a nurseryman but became interested in botany and microscopy which eventually led to a talent for preparing microscope slides and the invention of a micro-ruling machine. He joined the Geology Department, University of Melbourne in 1900.

Career Highlights
Born 9 May 1856. Died 21 March 1918. Trained as a gardiner, was in New Zealand from the early 1880s for some years, nurseryman, Melbourne 1887-98, laboratory assistant, University of Melbourne 1898-1909, research fellow 1909-18. Syme Prize 1917.
