Love, Wilton Wood Russell (1861 - 1933)

Born: 16 November 1861  Hollymount, Mayo, Ireland.  Died: 3 January 1933  Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Wilton Wood R. Love was an expert in general medicine and a pioneer in bacteriology and pathology. He was also one of the first in Queensland to introduce and master the techniques of diathermy and X-rays, setting up X-ray services at the Brisbane Children’s Hospital. Love’s other roles included assisting the Department of Police in their forensic work, lecturing Chemistry at the Brisbane Technical and Pharmacy colleges, Secretary of the Queensland Central Board of Health and of the Australasian Medical Congress, President of the British Medical Association – Queensland branch, foundation Fellow of the College of Surgeons of Australasia and a consulting surgeon to several hospitals including the Brisbane Children’s Hospital and the lady Lamington Hospital.
