Bart Jan Bok was Director of the Mount Stromlo Observatory near Canberra 1957-66 and Director of the Steward Observatory, Tucson, Arizona, USA from 1966-70.

Wilson Fellow in astronomy, Harvard 1929-33, assistant professor of astronomy 1933-46, Associate Director, Harvard College Observatory 1946-56, Professor of Astronomy, Australian National University and Director, Mount Stromlo Observatory 1957-66, Director, Steward Observatory, Tucson, Arizona, USA 1966-70. Bruce Medal. President, American Astronomical Society.
