Calvert, John (1814 - 1897)

Born: 1814  St Winnow, Cornwall, England.  Died: 1897.
John Calvert prospected in Australia at various times and reputedly found gold. He was regarded by some as a 'romancer'.

Career Highlights
Born St Winnow, Cornwall, England, 1814. Died 1897. Prospected NSW 1831-34, went to Peru, then returned to Australia, where he prospected NSW, SA and WA, returned to England, back to NSW 1848-49, returned to England reputedly with ton of gold, visited Australia 1890. Responsible for many publications.
