John Harding Chinner was Reader-in-Charge of Forestry, University of Melbourne. President of the Royal Society of Victoria 1965-66.

Career Highlights
Elected Rhodes Scholar for Victoria, 1939. D.For.Sc. honoris causa 1994, University of Melbourne. John Chinner Medal donated by The Institute of Foresters of Australia for the student with the most outstanding field studies in the Bachelor of Forest Science course at the University of Melbourne.
