Ritchie, Samuel Sextus (1825 - 1879)

Born: 1825  Greenwich, Kent, England.  Died: 8 March 1879  Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia.
Samuel Sextus Ritchie was manager of the Melbourne Meat Preserving Company 1867-79. Canned meat production was begun in September 1868 and a few months before his death he invented canning machinery claimed to be far superior to that used in the United States.
